Product Overview
The PT086 Book Bend Stress Tester is a self-contained, independent benchtop instrument designed to evaluate the mechanical durability of electronic passports (ePassports) and machine-readable passports (MRPs). It accurately reproduces the bending stress that occurs when a passport is carried in a rear pocket, helping manufacturers and test laboratories verify document resilience under realistic use conditions.
A foam-rubber insert simulates the passport being placed into a pocket, exactly as required by ISO and ICAO test methods. Operators can set test parameters directly on the color touchscreen interface, including cycle count and pressure dwell time, allowing both standard compliance tests and extended custom test routines.
Force range 150 - 500 N covers the standard 350 N reference force specified in ISO/IEC 18745 (2018) and ICAO V3.2 (2006), while also supporting tougher custom qualification tests.
