An RFID label is only as durable as the adhesive that holds it to the asset. Acrylic, rubber, and silicone constructions behave very differently under heat, chemicals, and surface energy, so the wrong choice means tags peeling off exactly where tracking matters most.

What the Adhesive Must Withstand

Industrial assets live on painted steel, powder-coated panels, low-energy plastics, and oily or dusty surfaces, often across temperature swings from freezers to curing ovens. The adhesive must wet the surface on application, resist creep under load, and keep its bond through thermal cycling. A label that sticks perfectly in the laboratory can let go within weeks on a cold galvanized beam, which is why selection starts from the substrate and the service temperature rather than from price.

Acrylic adhesives offer the best balance of UV, chemical, and temperature resistance, making them the default for outdoor and general industrial tagging where long service life is required.

Rubber and silicone niches

Rubber grabs low-energy plastics fast but ages poorly in heat, while silicone survives extreme temperature and cleanroom use at the cost of lower initial tack and higher price.
