Preventive Maintenance in Practice

Preventive maintenance replaces wear parts on a fixed calendar or cycle-count schedule regardless of measured condition. Punch dies, transport belts, vacuum cups, and print heads are swapped at intervals derived from historical failure data. The approach is simple to plan and easy to audit, but it discards remaining useful life on parts that were still healthy and it cannot catch a component that fails early.

Condition monitoring

A slow climb in encoder or vision reject rate is often the earliest indicator of mechanical drift, making existing quality data a low-cost predictive sensor.
